New office for Lewisham's Business Advisory Service

South East Enterprise and the Lewisham Business Advisory Service will be celebrating the launch of new offices in central Lewisham to offer increased capacity and services to new and existing clients within the borough.

The offices will be officially opened by the Mayor of Lewisham Sir Steve Bullock on 4 March.

The new office is conveniently situated next door to the existing BAS service at Opening Doors in Lewisham high Street.

 

Women mean business

March sees the return of the popular ‘Women mean business’ event taking place during International Women’s Week around the 8 March to be held in a venue in Lewisham.

The event celebrates the successes of women in the world of business and will include opportunities to learn new business skills and network with fellow business women.

New Town Centre Manager

Salma Hathbul, has recently joined the Council’s Town Centre Management Team, Salma will be supporting businesses in Crofton Park, Ladywell Village and Lee Green.

The expansion of the team means that more town centre businesses can be supported in these areas. Salma will also be helping to promote the physical regeneration of the areas and to raise the profile of Ladywell Village, Lee Green and Crofton Park. Fresh Start

Fresh Start is a programme designed to help unemployed residents of Lewisham start their own business. The programme, which is run by the Lewisham Business Advisory Service in partnership with Jobcentre plus, takes delegates on a journey through all of the essential business skills including Business Planning, Sales, Marketing and Accounting for small businesses as well as offering networking opportunities and a chance to hone their new skills and increase confidence.

The culmination of this programme will be the graduation where delegates will be awarded a certificate and one successful candidate will be awarded a small prize to help launch their business.

Fairtrade Fortnight

22 February - 7 March 2010

Fairtrade fortnight will be launched in Lewisham with a special Fairtrade 'High Tea Birthday Party' at Catford Broadway, where the Mayor will talk about Lewisham's five years as a Fairtrade borough.

A guide has been produced to help you get involved in supporting Fairtrade during the fortnight.
